Samsung has fixed 'most' of the Galaxy Fold's problems and is ready to launch it

The Samsung Galaxy Fold is probably not the best example of introducing new technology to the market.

It was plagued with many design flaws that rendered the phone pretty much useless. The most noticeable was the display which had a high rate of failure.

Some reviewers found that dust and dirt can be collected in the hinge mechanism which can cause bulges to form under the phone’s display.

Samsung will investigate the Galaxy Fold's screen problems

Others found that removing a film on the screen which they thought to be a screen protector, caused their units to have screen flickering issues soon after. Some even had screens that wouldn’t turn on.

These issues forced Samsung to retrieve all review units and postpone the phone’s launch.

Since then, the company had been silent on any developments or solutions to fix the phone. Leaving us with just a “we’re looking into it” statement.

But just yesterday, the company finally broke the silence. During an industry conference, Samsung Display vice president Kim Seong-Cheol said, “Most of the display problems have been ironed out, and the Galaxy Fold is ready to hit the market.”

The Samsung Galaxy Fold is not a cheap phone.

Now, we don’t want to take things out of context, but getting ‘most’ of the problems fixed and saying it’s ready to hit the market might not instill confidence in consumers. Especially when they have to fork out US$1,980 for a smartphone which has ‘most’ of its problems fixed.

What do you think about the statement? Would you buy a phone where ‘most’ of the problems are fixed?
