Apple hasn't had the best past couple of months, but the company plans to turn things around. While we're looking forward to a new set of iPhones for later in 2019, we'll first see iOS 13 — the operating system that runs on them.
A number of rumors have popped up about what iOS 13 will end up looking like, ahead of the operating system's likely release at Apple's Worldwide Developer Conference in June. Here's everything we know about iOS 13 so far.
Rumored features
Plenty of rumors have hit the internet highlighting new features that we expect to see in iOS 13. Some of these features were reportedly supposed to be released in iOS 12 but were delayed due to bugs that Apple wasn't able to fix in time. Here are all the rumored features that could show up in iOS 13.
Dark mode
Perhaps the coolest rumored feature is that the new operating system will reportedly finally offer a true Dark Mode, which will be system-wide, and can be enabled in the iOS Settings. According to a report from 9to5Mac, which cites people familiar with the matter, the Dark Mode will be similar to what's on offer in MacOS. 9to5Mac also obtained some screenshots as to what Dark Mode will look like, and it looks to include a true black background which will help save battery life on OLED displays.

A true Dark Mode has been a requested feature for years now, and the 9to5Mac report notes that it will be available in the Settings menu and in Control Center, allowing users to quickly and easily turn the mode on and off.
Revamped Reminders app

The Reminders app will reportedly be getting a major refresh too. 9to5Mac notes that on the iPad, the Reminders app now shows a sidebar on the left, with different options for "Today," "Scheduled," "Flagged," and "All." There's also a search box to make looking for reminders easier.
A new screenshot interface
A new report from 9to5Mac also highlights a new interface that may show up when you take a screenshot. Instead of the gray background with small tools at the bottom of the display, the new interface may show more realistic tools. On an iPad, this interface can reportedly be moved around the screen.
Find my iPhone update
Another 9to5Mac report notes that iOS 13 may include a huge update to Find My Friends and Find My iPhone. According to the report, Apple will actually bring the two features together into one single application. While they may have most of the same features, they'll be usable from one interface, which should make them slightly easier to use.
Updates to Apple Health
Apple Health isn't expected to get a major overhaul, but it will get a few handy new features. For example, Health will now display new metrics, like how loud you listen to music, and it'll offer better support for tracking the menstrual cycle.
A WhatsApp-like iMessage experience
Apple may be bringing a more "WhatsApp-like" experience to iMessage, according to Bloomberg. The report notes that users will be able to set a profile picture and display name for others to see on iMessage and customize who sees that display name on iMessage. Not only that, but Apple will bring more support for other Animojis and a new sticker menu.
Windowed apps on the iPad
Many of the rumored features will benefit the iPad more than the iPhone. The 9to5Mac report notes that iOS 13 will offer support for windowed apps on the iPad, and windows will be movable on the screen and stackable on top of each other.
A standard undo system
Also on the iPad, iOS 13 will reportedly offer a standard undo system, at least during typing. The gesture will allow users to three-finger tap on an area in the keyboard to undo something, though users will also be able to three-finger swipe left and right to undo and redo. This should make typing on the iPad a little more intuitive.
Desktop websites in Safari on iPad
Safari will also get a few improvements — on the iPad, it will automatically request a desktop version of a website, preventing users from being stuck with a mobile version despite having a large display. That will be helpful for those that use their iPad for productivity — while mobile websites make sense on some screens, on the iPad they can get a little frustrating.
Apple Mail improvements
Apple Mail in iOS is the new feature to get updates, according to the 9to5Mac report. In the Apple Mail app, emails will be able to be organized in categories, like marketing, purchases, travel, and so on. Those categories will be searchable.
Sleep Mode
According to a report from Bloomberg, iOS 13 will come with a new Sleep Mode. Sleep Mode will darken the Lock Screen, enable Do Not Disturb, and mute all incoming notifications. The new mode will also integrate with the Clock app and with the Apple Watch, making for a mode seamless user experience.
We will likely hear a lot more about iOS 13 in the coming months and we will update this article as we hear more.
iOS 13 spotted in the wild
While we haven't seen too many official features of iOS 13 yet, we know that it exists. How? Well, if you own a website and have analytics software installed, you can actually see which operating systems and devices are visiting your website. Both MacRumors and BGR have reported that they are getting visitors on devices with iOS 13, suggesting that it's well into testing at Apple.
Of course, all this says is that iOS 13 exists — we can't glean any features from the data, except that it has a web browser and can connect to the internet.
