At any given moment, there are approximately a zillion different crowdfunding campaigns happening on the web. Take a stroll through Kickstarter or Indiegogo and you'll find no shortage of weird, useless, and downright stupid projects out there — alongside some real gems. We've cut through the fidget spinners and janky iPhone cases to round up the most unusual, ambitious, and exciting new crowdfunding projects out there this week. Keep in mind that any crowdfunding project — even those with the best intentions — can fail, so do your homework before cutting a check for the gadget of your dreams.

SmartHalo 2 — smart cycling device
The creators of this one describe it best. "Designed by cyclists, for cyclists; SmartHalo 2 is the all-in-one connected device that breathes life into your bike. It helps you discover new routes with clear navigation signals. It protects your bike with an ear-piercing anti-theft alarm. It lights your way with a completely redesigned, all-powerful front light. It tracks and displays your cycling metrics without having to push a single button, syncing with the fitness apps you already use."
GameBender — customizable game console
This is a weird one. It's basically half game console, half DIY game building platform — but the line between those two things is gloriously blurry. While you're playing a game, you can actually pause and modify elements of the game itself. Want your character to be bigger? Want to tweak the physics? Want to use your hands instead of the controller? It's all possible with GameBender.
Lupe — cordless vacuum
Cordless vacuums certainly aren't a new thing at this point, but this one seems special. It was designed by a pair of ex Dyson engineers who, apparently, have the same suction obsession that James Dyson has himself. Channeling that obsession, they've created a battery powered cordless vacuum that can run for a full hour, and won't lose suction power as the battery drains. Check out the video — it's pretty impressive.
Senspad — wireless electronic drum pads
You know those electronic drums that you can plug headphones into and play without disturbing everyone in the house? This is that same idea, but taken a few steps further. Senspad is essentially a system of wireless, portable electronic drum pads that you can take (and play) anywhere. They're also designed to be scalable, so you can expand the size of your drumset by simply adding more pads.
Spryng — active compression wraps
According to the Kickstarter campaign page, Spryng is "an affordable, untethered, pneumatic compression wrap that helps improve circulation, athletic performance, and so much more. By compressing your legs, you encourage circulation of blood where it needs the most support. This, in turn, can help reduce swelling and usher in fresh blood, nutrients, and lymphatic fluid to your legs to help accelerate healing and recovery."
